Most wellness advice assumes you have a different life than the one you have. More time, more money, fewer obligations, a morning that starts at five with no one else in it.
I’ve read a great deal of it and adopted almost none, because it wasn’t built for a real week.
So this is the other thing. Not a protocol. What actually fits.
I walk.
That’s it. That’s the practice.
It’s the only thing I’ve done consistently for years, and it does two jobs at once — the body and everything else. Problems I can’t think my way through get solved somewhere in the second mile, usually without my noticing.
Mostly it’s the same loop around the lake. Same water, same path, different light — and after enough repetitions you stop looking at it and start thinking instead, which is the point.
I go in the rain too. Fewer people, softer light, and something about weather you have to move through rather than around.
I understand this is not an impressive answer. There’s no equipment, no protocol, nothing to buy. But sustainable means you’re still doing it in a year, and that’s the only definition that matters. A practice you abandon in March was never a practice — it was a plan.
On age, since I’m going to keep mentioning it.
I’m in my sixties. Some of what worked at forty doesn’t now, and some of it works better. I’d rather say that plainly than pretend the body is a fixed thing you optimize once.
What you’ll find here.
Practices that fit into real days, real budgets, real lives. What’s worth the money and what’s marketing. And nothing that requires becoming a different person first.
